Welcome to my game collection web site!
As with most of my personal web sites, Project: Games started as a learning exercise. In fact, Project: Games was the very first site that I created in ASP and Access. The knowledge that I gained from creating this site proved invaluable when I decided to start up another learning project, the Gone Gold Sales Data site.
You'll probably notice that there are a lot of holes in the information provided by the database. Like almost all of my personal projects, Project: Games still needs quite a bit of work. The code is pretty much finished at this point, but the database needs a lot more information. So check back every now and then to see what I've added. I'll keep everyone updated on this web page.
So where should you start? Good question. On the left of this page you'll notice the "View By:" menu. Click Status to see what I'm playing now, what Leisa (my wife) is playing now, what I've finished, and what's yet to be played. Rating will sort the games by what I thought of them. Genre shows the list separated by the common genre designations. Media will separate the games out by their platform (PC, console, or C64) and further breaks the PC category depending on what the game came on (CD-ROM or floppy). Finally, the Trade selection will show you the games that I'm willing to trade, those that I might consider trading, or ones that you'd have to pry from my cold, dead hands. :)
You'll notice that the Rating and Genre views have a lot of games lumped under undecided or not specified. Those two categories are the ones I'm having the hardest time filling so I've decided to come back to them later.
Oh, and if you're wondering why I'd ever choose a gaming collection web site as a learning project, you can thank JetFred from the GoneGold forums. His site was quite an inspiration, even if it is hosted on GeoCities. ;)
